OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY AT RUBICON
UNDERSTANDING WHAT MAKES EVERYDAY LIFE EASIER.
Occupational Therapy helps us understand how sensory needs, environments and everyday experiences affect each child - and what we can adapt to support them.

looking beyond what we see
BEHAVIOUR TELLS US SOMETHING.
Sometimes something that looks like refusal, avoidance, agitation or difficulty concentrating may have much more sitting underneath it.
A room may feel too noisy. Clothing may feel uncomfortable. A transition may be difficult to process. A child may need movement, predictability, less stimulation or a different way of approaching a task.
Occupational Therapy gives teams another way to stay curious about those experiences - asking what might this child be experiencing? rather than simply focusing on the behaviour we can see.

SENSORY UNDERSTANDING
Noticing what others might miss. Understanding how sensory experiences can affect comfort, regulation and everyday life.

the right environment
Spaces can support people too.
Thinking about surroundings, routines and practical adjustments around individual needs.

everyday goals
Small changes can mean a lot.
Supporting practical skills, participation, confidence and greater independence over time.

WOVEN INTO EVERYDAY CARE.
At Rubicon, Occupational Therapy thinking is woven through everyday life. We consider each child's needs, plan individual goals and think about the activities and experiences that can help them build the skills they need.
That thinking can shape the environment around a child too - from sensory experiences and opportunities to everyday routines and activities - so support isn't separated from the rest of life in the home.
Where a child needs more specific Occupational Therapy assessment, this can also be carried out, with external OT input used where appropriate to the child's individual needs.
