our houses
welcome to no.6
Every Rubicon house is different, but they all share the same belief - that you deserve a place where you can feel safe, at home and able to be yourself.
No.6 is a four-child home in Seaford, close to the coast, with a big garden and a team with a wonderfully mixed collection of interests.

space to feel at home
a place to call home
Number 6 is a four-child home in Seaford, close to the coast and with plenty of space for everyday life. There is a big garden for games and summer barbecues, bikes for getting out and about, places to relax and a team with enough different interests that there is usually somebody willing to join in with whatever you are into.
The home’s own mission is simple: Number 6 should be somewhere children can call home and feel heard and understood. That comes through in the welcome material too - it talks as much about favourite meals, hobbies, laughter, pets, beaches and people’s personalities as it does about routines and practical information.

Meet the people who make the house
The best way to understand a home is to meet the people in it. Rubicon House has an experienced, stable team who know the children well and bring their own interests, humour and personalities to everyday life.

space to feel at home
home, food & the evryday stuff
There is room to run around outside, a conservatory with things to play with, an Xbox for shared gaming and space to enjoy free time after school or at weekends. Food is a proper part of life at Number 6 too. Everyone gets involved in choosing the weekly menu and each person gets to choose a favourite meal. Special occasions are a good excuse to dress the house up and make a bit more of dinner.
Then there are days out: paddleboarding, farms, local history, the beach and whatever else people decide to explore. Sometimes staying home, getting messy, watching something or playing Xbox together is perfectly enough. You are encouraged to keep activities you already love and explore new interests rather than arriving and starting life from scratch.
Your space, your key adult and life by the coast
You can bring personal belongings and make your bedroom your own. Phones and games can come too, although individual safety agreements may sometimes apply.
You will receive pocket money, and key adults support day-to-day needs, appointments, meetings, goals and the gradual development of life skills and independence.
Outside the front door, Seaford and the coast are part of the home’s everyday world.

the rubicon way
relationships first
The relationship comes before the framework. We take time to build trust, stay consistent and be there through the ordinary days as well as the difficult ones.
known properly
A child is more than their history or the information written about them. We get to know the person - their strengths, interests, humour, relationships and what helps them feel understood.
always thinking
What works for one child may not work for another. Our teams stay curious, reflect on what they’re seeing and adapt as they learn more about the individual child.
