our houses
welcome to no.32
Every Rubicon house is different, but they all share the same belief - that you deserve a place where you can feel safe, at home and able to be yourself.
No.32 is a home in Herne Bay for up to five children, with a long-standing team, plenty of personality and room to get settled.

space to feel at home
a place to call home
Rubicon House in Herne Bay is home to up to five children, including one place within the adjoining annex. It has a long-standing team, plenty of personality and an everyday rhythm that belongs to the children and adults there.
The home supports children who have experienced trauma, with care shaped around the individual child and what they need to feel safe, understood and supported. Some children may also have moderate learning disabilities, ADHD or autism, or experience social and emotional difficulties. But none of those things defines who they are. Their personality, experiences, relationships, interests and strengths are always part of getting to know the whole person.
Children have their own bedroom and can make their space their own. The house is a base for school or college, friendships, family contact, activities, appointments, quiet time, celebrations and all the ordinary moments in between.

ofsted accreditation
Outstanding care
- and what that looked like in practice
Rubicon House was rated Outstanding across all three inspection areas at its full Ofsted inspection on 11–12 February 2026:
- Children’s experiences and progress; how well children and young people are helped and protected; and the effectiveness of leaders and managers.
The value of that judgement is in what inspectors actually saw.
- Children who had experienced several previous moves were becoming settled and secure.
- Children were re-engaging meaningfully with education.
- Transitions were individualised and carefully planned.
- Family relationships were supported, staff advocated for specialist services when needed, and safeguarding was deeply embedded in the home’s culture.
Inspectors also recognised the therapeutic approach as part of everyday practice rather than something separate from it, supported by a stable team, reflective leadership and therapeutic input.

the rubicon way
relationships first
The relationship comes before the framework. We take time to build trust, stay consistent and be there through the ordinary days as well as the difficult ones.
known properly
A child is more than their history or the information written about them. We get to know the person - their strengths, interests, humour, relationships and what helps them feel understood.
always thinking
What works for one child may not work for another. Our teams stay curious, reflect on what they’re seeing and adapt as they learn more about the individual child.
